Contact UsWhat Is An Eyelid Lift?
Blepharoplasty (or Eyelid lift) is a surgical procedure performed on the upper and/or lower eyelids. Eyes are the windows to your soul. A person's eyes can be so beautiful and appealing, shining with natural beauty, but with age, sometimes they can grow to look tired, old, or angry because of an overabundance of skin above or under the eyes. The aging process is also a common cause of sagging skin around the eyes, making them appear tired or smaller. Our esteemed board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Joseph Daw, has performed thousands of blepharoplasty eyelid surgery (known as blepharoplasty) to reduce excess skin and rejuvenate the lower or upper eyelid to create a younger and more energized appearance. This procedure is quick and can be done in-office without general anesthesia.
With a consultation with Dr. Daw, he will thoroughly discuss your goals and thoroughly examine not only the eyelids or eyebrow areas but the whole face. By doing so, he can make a recommendation on how to achieve your goals proportionally and naturally. Sometimes, an eye brow lift (browplasty) may be recommended on its own or to be done in conjunction of the blepharoplasty. A browplasty or forehead lift is a popular cosmetic surgical procedure that lifts the brow to reveal a new look around the eyes and forehead. A brow lift surgically improves a drooping brow, going from an angry or tired appearance to a refreshed face. A brow lift eliminates excess skin from the forehead and raises the eyebrows. Sometimes, just opening up the brow arch, and repairing the degree of laxity, can give a more rejuvenated and refreshed look to the eyes. Dr. Daw has performed brow lift surgery on both women and men to give them a more youthful appearance.

How Is An Eyelid Lift Performed?
Depending on the complexity of the eyelid surgery, this procedure can be done in our office, or the operating room if you choose.
- Upper Eyelids
Upper blepharoplasty reduces the skin that droops over the eye and creates a more appealing eyelid appearance. The incision point is often placed along the lid crease to remove skin and tissue.
- Lower Eyelids
Surgery on the lower lid reduces bulging, bloated skin under the lower eyelid. An incision is made just under the lash line to surgically remove fat, and the skin is gently lifted to allow for a softer, flatter look. In some cases, nonsurgical laser treatment may be applied to help with discoloration if necessary.
What Should I Expect Following An Eyelid Lift?
After this outpatient surgery, you should expect about a week to rest. Cold compresses can help reduce bruising and swelling. The outcomes from an eyelid lift can last years, but while they are long-lasting, the aging process does not stop. To complement your surgical results, facial rejuvenation treatments at Oak Dermatology, like fillers, peels, and laser treatments, can be added to create an even more youthful-looking appearance.
