Our customized chemical peel aesthetic treatments provide different options to achieve the highest quality results. Chemical peels are often used as part of our exclusive, DRP Method, an innovative skin health restoration approach pioneered by Dr. Jeffrey T. S. Hsu. Chemical peels are a type of skin treatment that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin. The solution is used to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells, revealing smooth, luminous and, more youthful-looking skin. Chemical peels can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and other skin imperfections. They may also be performed for anti-aging, rebooting the skin, and as part of a dermal restoration process.

At all three of our clinics in Naperville, Itasca, and Joliet, IL, we feature chemical peel treatments that will minimize skin flaws, like fine lines, wrinkles, scars, rough patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Depending on your skin concerns, our medical aestheticians, trained under the guidance of Dr. Jeffrey T.S. Hsu’s, The DRP Method, they will first examine your skin to identify any underlying skin damage as well as your skin needs. From there, they will make recommendations for a chemical peel that will address your needs as well as your lifestyle. Chemical peels can range from superficial or known as the “lunchtime peel” to deep, where visible layers of skin can shed a couple of days post-treatment. Solutions such as glycolic, salicylic, trichloroacetic, mandelic and lactic acid are usually used. A chemical peel facial is a noninvasive method that can be done for the face, neck, and décollatage. We also offer specialized chemical peels that target and treat specific skin conditions or skin types such as melasma or Asian and Indian skin.

Light peels: Light chemical peels, such as the ZO® Stimulator peel, can be performed during a lunch break so you can go right back to your routine. Light peels remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis), giving your complexion a softer texture and a more radiant appearance. We usually recommend this light treatment around once a month for the best glowing results.

Medium-depth peels: This peel penetrates deeper into your skin. Most of our patients prefer to have this strength of facial treatment during a long weekend. You may also experience increased discomfort during and up to an hour following the treatment. Medium-depth or retinol-based peels are best for patients who have mild to moderate damage to their skin. Depending on your skin concerns, our medical aesthetician will customize your peel treatment by utilizing a custom array of chemicals such as glycolic acids, salicylic acids, and TCA amongst many others. A Vitamin A-based peel may also be recommended.

Deep peels: Deep chemical peels, such as the PCA peel from PCA Skin and the Enlighten™? peel, usually help patients who have dark age spots, severe sun-damaged skin, entrenched acne scars, and/or deep-seated scars. The Enlighten peel in particular is a medical-grade peel that works as a depigmentation system, and lessens the appearance of hyperpigmentation and melasma. This level of chemical peel may yield a few days of downtime and some post-treatment effects such as slight itching or swelling to the face, redness, and or peeling of the skin. Your provider will inform you of all pre-and post treatment information at the time of consultation.

Specialty peel: Some skin conditions may restrict treatments to a combination of chemical peels and at-home medical grade skincare regimen, Oak Dermatology is proud to offer specialty chemical peels for addressing very specific skin concerns like melasma, acne, ultimate skin restore (laser-peel combo) amongst others.

A chemical peel treatment at Oak Dermatology typically takes 30-60 minutes. Our medical aesthetician will first ensure the skin is cleaned before applying the personalized solution to your face, neck, or both. We will massage the solution onto the skin. The peel solution is then applied and left for a specific length of time as discussed in your treatment consultation. Then, the solution is washed off your face and we may apply a neutralizing agent. We recommend patients immediately apply sunscreen and bring a hat to wear outside following the treatment to avoid environmental exposure. Post-care instruction will be provided at the time of the treatment.

Without giving too much away, I’ve done multiple non invasive procedures with Dr. Hsu as well as an excision of a skin cancer and Halo BBL Laser. Dr. Hsu pays attention to every minute detail, facial anatomy and structure while also listening to his patients. He explains everything clearly and is quick to point out both the pros and the cons. It is obvious after being in a room with Dr. Hsu for just a few minutes that he is up to date on the latest research and technologies. He is kind and punctual and respectful of his patients. I highly recommend him for both cosmetic and clinical dermatology. I’ve also seen Hannah the esthetician in the Naperville location. She is an expert in skin care and optimization. She is a wealth of knowledge- each time I see her I leave feeling glowy and like I learned so much!

I had a great first appointment at Oak Dematology. Dr. Al Haddidi was amazing. She was kind, patient, knowledgeable and gentle. She answered all of my questions and we discussed a future course of action. Additionally, her nurse answered additional questions and when I needed an esthetician there was one available (Claire)! Looking forward to seeing Claire next week for my chemical peel! Thank you!!

I saw Esthetician Hannah and had an amazing experience. It was my first time with the treatment so I had a lot of questions and a little bit of nervousness. She answered them all, and put me at ease. I knew exactly what to expect, got great advice and know I made the best choice by seeing her for the treatment!
