Contact UsWhat Is Vein and Lesion Treatment?
Spider veins are little, branching blood vessels that are visible underneath the skin. Caused by many factors, like genetics and age, these veins can be red, blue, or purple, making them difficult to hide on ankles, lower legs, or thighs. To minimize the appearance of spider veins on the body and face or to remove unsightly lesions, Oak Dermatology performs different nonsurgical treatments for vein and lesion removal, including sclerotherapy, laser treatment with the Harmony XL PRO, and Cutera XL-V. In your initial consultation, our staff in Naperville, Itasca, and Joliet, IL can suggest a personalized plan based on your unique needs and goals for your vein or lesion treatment.

What to Expect from Vein and Lesion Treatment
Sclerotherapy
Vein and lesion treatment can help veins of all kinds and proportions. Depending on your needs, some treatments might work better than others, depending on what is being treated. Laser treatments might work great for certain veins, but some patients might be better candidates for sclerotherapy, which places a glycerin solution or the FDA-approved Asclera by Merz directly into the vein to collapse it. Before treatment, however, we typically recommend an ultrasound evaluation to ensure that sclerotherapy is the best treatment for our patients.
Laser Treatment
Using the Harmony XL PRO's narrow beam of light stimulates the spider vein and then eliminates it. The laser system is very meticulous and focuses on only the target vein so it will not harm nearby healthy skin tissue. Once the vein has collapsed, it takes around 1 – 2 months for the vein to be flushed out of the body and disappear.
If visible veins are situated on your face, upper thighs, back of the legs, or around your ankles, laser vein therapy might be a good treatment technique because of its precision in targeting the affected tissue and avoiding the healthy skin around the veins.
Prior to your treatment, our staff often puts on an anesthetic cream to help you stay comfortable. But our laser systems have a built-in feature that generates a cooling sensation to decrease any pain, if any, felt during the procedure.
Oak Dermatology Reviews
I have been a patient of Oak Dermatology for years . I just had a recent surgery and once again the team was outstanding .The care is exceptional and the treatment by staff is admirable. You are treated with respect and appreciation. I would not consider going anywhere else .
The staff at Oak Dermatology were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, putting me at ease throughout my entire experience, from discussing my concerns with an eczema specialist to receiving personalized treatment options. From the initial consultation to the follow-up appointments, the entire team was warm, welcoming, and dedicated to addressing my specific skin care needs.
Wonderful, kind, and sweet Dr.
It terrified me to get a skin cancer diagnosis on my toe! My Podiatrist referred me to Surgeon Dr. Ashish Bhatia. From the time I first walked into the exam room I was treated with empathy and respect. Being prepped by PA Megan a 16 year associate of Dr. Bhatia was wonderful. Dr. Bhatia was amazing. He was kind and explained every step of the way what procedure they were going to do. He talked to me throughout the entire process to keep my nerves at bay. I was bandaged and sent to the waiting room for over 2 hours while the first layer was examined. Then it was back for round two. This time NA Faith was assisting. She was great and gentle reassuring me the whole time. Another layer and again I was bandaged and back to the waiting room for more tissue to be diagnosed this time about 1 1/4 hours. Back to the exam room with NA Faith where I was pronounced cancer free!! Now more fun by younger Dr. Bhatia no relation who is interning who applied several layers of skin graft. Might as well double it up since he said it was very expensive. It was a precision job to do it but it's in place. Then the final bandaging by NA Faith with an appointment back to my Podiatrist for possible plastic surgery. They advise you that you will be spending the day there. 7 hours later they were correct. I left the office with love and respect for everyone that was part of my team. I more than ever agree that 5 stars aren't enough for the wonderful care I received. I would recommend Oak Dermatology for everyone that needs their service. Thank you Staff you are the greatest.
Oak dermatology is an amazing practice. Dr. Bhatia has done two skin cancer removals for me and the results are incredible. He is very thorough, knowledgeable, patient and caring. His expertise is shown during the procedure as I experienced no discomfort with the numbing. The end result of both excisions are amazing! I would highly recommend Dr. Bhatia and I am so fortunate to have him as part of my healthcare team!

About UsVeins & Vascular Lesions FAQs
Should I get laser vein removal or sclerotherapy?
A treatment with laser vein removal could target veins of all forms and sizes. Depending on your concerns, a laser treatment might be better than others according to your goals. Laser vein treatments can work great for some veins, but some patients may prefer sclerotherapy, which injects a sclerosing liquid right into the vein to collapse it. Larger veins such as varicose veins frequently work well with laser-based vein therapy, but if the vein is large and bulging, a surgical procedure might be necessary. Our team will help you select your best treatment choice according to your individual concerns and goals.
Does the vein go away?
Laser-based vein removal will focus on the vein by emitting a focused beam of energy that heats up the vein and then eradicates it. The technology is extremely meticulous and focuses on just on the target area, so it won't affect the surrounding areas of skin. After the vein has collapsed, it will take around 1 – 2 months for it to be flushed out of your system and fade away.
Can I get sclerotherapy on my hands and face?
Sclerotherapy can improve the appearance of spider veins, vascular blemishes, diseased veins, and varicose veins on your hands and face. When you come for your private consultation, Dr. Al-Hadidi will investigate your troublesome regions of and determine if sclerotherapy can be applied to safely target the vein. If she recognizes that sclerotherapy would not be a good or safe option, she will discuss your options, such as laser vein removal.
